Salt of the Earth - Selections from the Utah Museum of Natural History
Salt is an essential element, but it hasn't always been as common as it is today. Salt has been used as a currency, it has been taxed and traded, and it has ignited more wars than those fought over gold. In Utah, salt occurs naturally and describes the history of ancient seas and evaporating bodies of water. This exhibit features specimens and objects from the Utah Museum of Natural History's collections that begin to tell the story of Utah's sources of salt, a substance that literally gives us life and connects us to past peoples and the deep geological history of our surroundings.
